Whether you need to starch the tips, a lot depends on the type of cotton used.

To create the stem, cut a piece of plasticized iron wire of the appropriate length and thickness for the work being carried out. On one point, wrap yellow cotton several times to form a small ball. Bend the tip with the help of pliers to lock the work.
Insert in order: the pistil, the central section, the section of petals and the spurs.
Cover the stem with cotton working around the chains except about 2 cm that will be inserted into the vase.
Slightly bend the stem at the height of the flower and shape everything with your hands.

Explanation of the bud
Start 4 chains and in the first make 9 double crochet (total 10).
1st round: 20 high points.
2nd round: 2 double crochet closed together for the whole round. Cut a piece of plasticized iron wire of the appropriate length for the bud and wrap a bit of cotton wool or cotton wool on one end. Curve the tip with the help of pliers to block the cotton. Insert the stem inside the bud and close the second round.
3rd round: 5 chains and in these do: 2 single crochets, 2 half double crochets, skip a basic stitch. A very low point. Repeat for a total of 5 times.
4th round: 5 slip stitches between one point and the other and close the work.
Cover the stem with cotton by working the chains around it, except about 2 cm that will be inserted into the vase.
Slightly bend the stem at the height of the bud and shape with your hands.

Explanation of the leaf

The leaf consists of 3 elements to be sewn separately into a small stem.
Start 4 chains and in the first make 7 double crochet (total 8). Turn the work.
1st round: 3 double crochet, 3 double crochet in one point twice, 3 double crochet. Turn the work.
2nd round: 5 double crochet, 3 double crochet in one point twice, 5 double crochet. Turn the work.
3rd round: 2 chains and a double crochet in one point, a double crochet, a double crochet and 2 chains in one point. A very low point. Repeat the same one more time. Then do: 2 chains and a double crochet in one point, 2 double crochet in a point 2 times, a double crochet and 2 chains in one point. A very low point. 2 chain stitches and a double crochet in one point, a double double crochet, a double crochet and 2 chain stitches in one point. A very low point. Repeat the same one more time.
Close the work by keeping the cotton a little long.
Make 2 more elements to create a leaf.
Cut about 20 cm (some even 15 and 10 cm) of galvanized iron wire and fold it in half. Hold the center with pliers and twist it on itself. In the small hole created on the top insert the crochet hook and cover the stem of the leaf with the cotton, working the chains around it, except about 2 cm that will be inserted into the vase.
Insert the needle into the cotton of an element of the leaf and with 2-3 stitches reach the center at the bottom. Sew the leaf to the stem. One will go to the top and the other 2 to the sides facing each other.
Slightly bend the stem of the leaf and shape everything with your hands.

Insert the flowers and buds in the center of the vase and all around the leaves.
Mine of course is just an example that I hope I have best explained and that you can modify and customize by following your imagination.
Have fun choosing the various shades of colors with which columbine brightens our gardens.
See you next time. Hello everybody.
