Explanation of the Crochet Cotton Plant

Unfortunately, a symbol of American slavery, the Cotton plant is perhaps the most important textile plant in the world. It is in fact grown mainly for commercial use by large retailers.

Personally I find it very graceful as a decorative plant both for the beautiful flower and for the cotton ball that creates the fuzz of its seeds.

To make the crochet branch of cotton you need to prepare the chalice, the branches of various sizes and of course the cotton balls.

Needed: cotton number 20 - 1.0mm crochet hook - scissors - 0.45 mm galvanized iron wire - cotton wool - plasticized iron wire - pliers.

Prepare cotton balls in the quantity you need for your creation. For each ball, cut a piece of cotton and tie it on it like when you tie a bow on a gift box.

Make a small hole in the center with the help of the tip of the hook or the tip of a small scissor.

Cut about 15 cm of galvanized iron wire and wrap a little cotton in the center to create a ball. Twist the wire around itself to block the cotton and create the small branch. Keep about 2 cm free on each side which will be used to connect the secondary branch to the main stem. Model with your hands.

Explanation of the chalice

Start 4 chains and in the first make 15 double crochet (total 16).

1st round: 16 chains and in these make: 2 single crochet, 2 half double crochet, 2 double crochet, 5 double double crochet, 4 triple double crochet, skip 3 basic stitches, 1 slip stitch. Repeat the same for a total of 4 times.

If you need to starch the tips of the glass (a lot depends on the type of cotton used).

Insert the branch into the hole made in the wad and then insert the glass by matching the 4 points with the 4 marks left previously.

Cover the stem of the cotton ball by working the chains around it.

Make all the balls you need for your composition.

Cut a piece of plasticized iron wire of the appropriate length and thickness for the work being carried out. On one point, wrap a bit of cotton to form a ball. Using pliers, bend the tip to block the cotton. Insert the cotton ball and its glass. Fasten all the other balls with their respective branches and cover the stem with the cotton, working the chains around it.

Curve the tip of the stem down to lock the work.

Model everything with your hands.

As always, I always hope to have been clear in the explanations and to have given you an extra idea.
See you next time. Hello everybody.
