A flower of great decorative impact in its infinite variety of colors, which with its elegance lends itself to creating beautiful compositions. Small or large, dahlias in autumn still give us a lot of color in our gardens.

To make the crochet dahlia you need to prepare 10 sections of petals of different sizes, the goblets and the leaves.

Needed : cotton number 10 and number 20 - 1.0 mm crochet hook - scissors - 0.45mm galvanized iron wire - plasticized iron wire - pliers.

For the sections of petals I used cotton number 20, for everything else number 10.

Explanation of the first section of petals

Start 5 chains and close them in a circle.

1st round: 8 low points.

2nd round: 6 chains and in these make 5 single crochet. A low point. Repeat the same for a total of 4 times.

3rd round: 1 single crochet, 1 half double crochet, 2 double crochet in one point, 1 half double crochet, 1 single crochet. Redo the same as the other side. A low point. Repeat the same for a total of 4 petals.

Explanation of the second section of petals

Start 5 chains and close them in a circle.

1st round: 8 low points.

2nd round: 7 chains and in these make 6 single stitches. A low point. Repeat the same for a total of 4 times.

3rd round: a single crochet, a half double crochet, 2 double crochet in one point twice, a half double crochet, a single crochet. Redo the same as the other side. A low point. Repeat the same for a total of 4 petals.

Start 10 chains   and close them in a circle.

1st round: 20 low points.

2nd round: 15 little chains and in these make 14 single stitches. A low point. Repeat the same for a total of 10 times.

3rd round: 2 single crochet, 2 half double crochet, 2 double crochet in one point, 6 double crochet, 2 double crochet, one half double crochet, one single crochet. Redo the same as the other side in reverse. A low point. Repeat the same for a total of 10 petals.

Explanation of the bud

To create the bud, make the first 4 sections of petals.

Explanation of the chalice

Start 5 chains and close them in a circle.

1st round: 14 high points.

2nd round: 7 chains and in these do: 2 single crochet, 2 half double crochet, 2 double crochet, skip a basic stitch, a slip stitch. Repeat the same for a total of 7 times.

Cut a piece of plasticized iron wire of the appropriate length and thickness for the work being carried out. On one tip wrap a little cotton of the same color as the petals. Curve the tip with the help of pliers to block the cotton and thus obtain a small pistil.

Insert in order the sections of petals from the first to the tenth.

Same work for the stem of the bud, insert the sections of petals from the first to the fourth and bend them a little to close the bud. Also insert the glass and keep pending.

Explanation of the leaf

The leaves are grouped in three by the wire.

Start 25 chains.

1st round: 3 single crochet, 3 half double crochet, 3 double crochet, 6 double crochet, 3 double crochet, 3 half double crochet, 3 single crochet. Repeat the same on the other side of the chains.

2nd round: 3 single crochet, 3 half double crochet, 3 double crochet, 9 double double crochet (make an increase every 2 points), 3 double crochet, 3 half double crochet, 3 single crochet. Repeat the same on the other side of the chains.

Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that goes all the way around the leaf 3 times plus another 3 cm more on each side. Insert it to the leaf by working a round of single stitches. Stretch the leaf well by shaping it with your hands and twist the iron wire 2-3 times to block the work. Without cutting the cotton, make the second leaf and then the third as well. From the second leaf, to get to the wire and work the single stitches, go down the middle of the leaf with slip stitches. At the end of the third leaf, twist the iron wire for about 1 cm to create a small stem and cover it with cotton by working the chains around it.

Fasten all the leaves to the stem and cover it with cotton by working the chains around it.

Model everything with your hands by arranging the leaves and sections of petals.

If necessary, starch the petals, a lot depends on the type of cotton used.

Arrange the dahlias in the center of the vase with the buds around.
